Currency In Circulation Grows By 1.8% This Fiscal

The Reserve Bank Of India (RBI) reported that currency in circulation decreased by 0.50% on the week to stand at Rs 21.75 trillion as on 26th July 2019. The central bank noted further that the overall reserve money also fell by 0.9% on the week to Rs 27.68 trillion. Currency in circulation rose 13.2% on a year ago basis compared to 24.7% at the same time last year. In the current fiscal, the currency in circulation has grown by just 1.8% while the reserve money has contracted by 0.10%.
