Energy shares gain
Energy stocks were trading in the positive zone, with the S&P BSE Energy index rising 9.89 points or 0.21% at 4704.4 at 09:47 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Energy index, Mangalore Refinery And Petrochemicals Ltd (up 2.39%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (up 0.98%), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (up 0.88%), Reliance Industries Ltd (up 0.28%), Gulf Oil Lubricants India Ltd (up 0.12%), and Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (up 0.1%), were the top gainers.
On the other hand, Goa Carbon Ltd (down 4.99%), Panama Petrochem Ltd (down 2.88%), and Aban Offshore Ltd (down 2.74%) moved lower.
At 09:47 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 276.92 or 0.71% at 38545.65.
The Nifty 50 index was down 89.05 points or 0.77% at 11423.35.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 117.21 points or 0.88% at 13214.72.
The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was down 42.5 points or 0.95% at 4441.9.
On BSE,503 shares were trading in green, 1024 were trading in red and 83 were unchanged.
