Energy stocks edge higher

Energy stocks were trading in green, with the S&P BSE Energy index increasing 53.22 points or 1.05% at 5114.14 at 09:47 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Energy index, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (up 1.97%), Reliance Industries Ltd (up 1.38%),Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (up 0.98%),Gujarat Gas Ltd (up 0.73%),Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation Ltd (up 0.51%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Coal India Ltd (up 0.42%), Aban Offshore Ltd (up 0.2%), Petronet LNG Ltd (up 0.18%), and Adani Gas Ltd (up 0.1%).

On the other hand, Panama Petrochem Ltd (down 5.18%), Confidence Petroleum India Ltd (down 2.98%), and Goa Carbon Ltd (down 2.52%) turned lower.

 

At 09:47 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 121.7 or 0.31% at 39371.9.

The Nifty 50 index was up 24.5 points or 0.21% at 11651.65.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 16.51 points or 0.12% at 13326.81.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 7.67 points or 0.17% at 4555.49.

On BSE,767 shares were trading in green, 640 were trading in red and 85 were unchanged.
