Energy shares rise

Energy stocks were trading with gains, with the S&P BSE Energy index rising 17.26 points or 0.37% at 4705.68 at 09:48 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Energy index, Aegis Logistics Ltd (up 3.34%), Selan Explorations Technology Ltd (up 2.04%),Castrol India Ltd (up 2.01%),Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (up 1.64%),Chennai Petroleum Corporation Ltd (up 1.47%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Reliance Industries Ltd (up 0.83%), Confidence Petroleum India Ltd (up 0.8%), Adani Gas Ltd (up 0.75%), Petronet LNG Ltd (up 0.6%), and Hindustan Oil Exploration Company Ltd (up 0.4%).

On the other hand, Goa Carbon Ltd (down 4.99%), Oil & Natural Gas Corpn Ltd (down 2.81%), and Coal India Ltd (down 0.76%) moved lower.

 

At 09:48 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 40.89 or 0.1% at 38948.85.

The Nifty 50 index was down 14.1 points or 0.12% at 11557.1.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 13.92 points or 0.1% at 13426.57.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was down 14.37 points or 0.32% at 4502.82.

On BSE,771 shares were trading in green, 662 were trading in red and 60 were unchanged.
