Energy stocks rise
Energy stocks were trading with gains, with the S&P BSE Energy index increasing 21.03 points or 0.46% at 4618.49 at 09:47 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Energy index, Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation Ltd (up 0.98%), Reliance Industries Ltd (up 0.88%), Petronet LNG Ltd (up 0.64%), Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (up 0.18%), and Adani Gas Ltd (up 0.04%), were the top gainers.
On the other hand, Confidence Petroleum India Ltd (down 3.89%), Aban Offshore Ltd (down 3.59%), and Alphageo (India) Ltd (down 2.33%) turned lower.
At 09:47 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 309.3 or 0.79% at 38787.84.
The Nifty 50 index was down 92.1 points or 0.79% at 11496.1.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 69.63 points or 0.51% at 13518.57.
The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was down 30.63 points or 0.67% at 4523.43.
On BSE,537 shares were trading in green, 941 were trading in red and 63 were unchanged.
