Metal stocks edge higher

Metal stocks were trading in green, with the S&P BSE Metal index increasing 109.21 points or 1.13% at 9758.44 at 09:47 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Metal index, Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (up 2.49%), Vedanta Ltd (up 1.97%),Tata Steel Ltd (up 1.45%),JSW Steel Ltd (up 1.42%),Steel Authority of India Ltd (up 1.01%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Hindustan Zinc Ltd (up 0.75%), Coal India Ltd (up 0.67%), NMDC Ltd (up 0.65%), and Hindalco Industries Ltd (up 0.53%).

On the other hand, National Aluminium Company Ltd (down 0.12%), turned lower.

At 09:47 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 231.79 or 0.57% at 41170.51.

 

The Nifty 50 index was up 55.85 points or 0.46% at 12109.8.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 59.8 points or 0.45% at 13365.59.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 15.16 points or 0.32% at 4702.63.

On BSE,934 shares were trading in green, 429 were trading in red and 75 were unchanged.
