Metal shares rise

Metal stocks were trading with gains, with the S&P BSE Metal index rising 343.34 points or 3.6% at 9881.47 at 09:48 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Metal index, Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (up 5.68%), Hindalco Industries Ltd (up 5.21%),Vedanta Ltd (up 4.87%),JSW Steel Ltd (up 4.57%),Tata Steel Ltd (up 4.48%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Hindustan Zinc Ltd (up 4.01%), Steel Authority of India Ltd (up 3.97%), National Aluminium Company Ltd (up 3.7%), NMDC Ltd (up 1.09%), and Coal India Ltd (up 0.7%).

At 09:48 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 208.79 or 0.52% at 40373.82.

 

The Nifty 50 index was up 72.95 points or 0.61% at 11963.55.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 95.24 points or 0.7% at 13696.16.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 32.25 points or 0.69% at 4729.42.

On BSE,1130 shares were trading in green, 470 were trading in red and 77 were unchanged.
