Quick Wrap: Nifty Metal Index rises 2.05%

Nifty Metal index closed up 2.05% at 2521.15 today. The index is up 3.00% over last one month. Among the constituents, Steel Authority of India Ltd gained 6.34%, Jindal Steel & Power Ltd jumped 5.95% and Tata Steel Ltd rose 3.87%. The Nifty Metal index is down 22.00% over last one year compared to the 13.18% surge in benchmark Nifty 50 index. In other indices, Nifty Media index added 2.03% and Nifty IT index has slid 1.95% on the day. In broad markets, the Nifty 50 has declined 0.45% to close at 11914.4 while the SENSEX is down 0.53% to close at 40359.41 today.
