Solar stocks advance on Govt's green energy push

Five solar stocks rose 0.18% to 3.24% at 12:44 IST on BSE on reports that the Minister of State for Power and Renewable Energy, RK Singh, said that the current fiscal year will see new solar tenders of 16.4 gigawatts.

Indosolar (up 3.24% at Rs 7.65), Ujaas Energy (up 2.19% at Rs 23.35), Moser Baer India (up 2.09% at Rs 4.39), Swelect Energy Systems (up 1.39% at Rs 455.80) and Websol Energy System (up 0.18% at Rs 108.45) gained.

Meanwhile, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 119.97 points or 0.36% at 33,559.27.

Power Minister R K Singh reportedly said that India will tender enough renewable energy projects over the next three years to surpass 200 gigawatts (GW) of green capacity build by 2022. The current fiscal year ending 31 March 2018 will see new solar tenders of 16.4 GW, he added.
