Telecom shares gain

Telecom stocks were trading in the positive zone, with the S&P BSE Telecom index rising 7.55 points or 0.68% at 1121.1 at 09:48 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Telecom index, GTL Infrastructure Ltd (up 2.5%), Vindhya Telelinks Ltd (up 1.67%),Bharti Infratel Ltd (up 0.81%),Bharti Airtel Ltd (up 0.76%),ITI Ltd (up 0.43%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Sterlite Technologies Ltd (up 0.36%), HFCL Ltd (up 0.29%), and Tejas Networks Ltd (up 0.13%).

On the other hand, Reliance Communications Ltd (down 4.44%), Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (down 2.17%), and Vodafone Idea Ltd (down 0.77%) moved lower.

 

At 09:48 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 18.44 or 0.04% at 41663.1.

The Nifty 50 index was down 10.35 points or 0.08% at 12261.45.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 15.78 points or 0.12% at 13406.81.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 12.55 points or 0.27% at 4717.25.

On BSE,793 shares were trading in green, 603 were trading in red and 88 were unchanged.
