Telecom shares fall
Telecom stocks were trading in the negative zone, with the S&P BSE Telecom index falling 14.38 points or 1.27% at 1121.12 at 13:48 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Telecom index, Optiemus Infracom Ltd (down 4.96%), Vodafone Idea Ltd (down 4.26%), Bharti Airtel Ltd (down 1.45%), Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (down 0.9%), ITI Ltd (down 0.83%), and Bharti Infratel Ltd (down 0.32%), were the top losers.
On the other hand, Reliance Communications Ltd (up 4.3%), GTL Infrastructure Ltd (up 3.64%), and Tejas Networks Ltd (up 3.51%) moved up.
At 13:48 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 112.66 or 0.28% at 40962.95.
The Nifty 50 index was up 30.7 points or 0.25% at 12073.9.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 20.02 points or 0.15% at 13472.81.
The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 3.3 points or 0.07% at 4732.36.
On BSE,1101 shares were trading in green, 1180 were trading in red and 185 were unchanged.
