Telecom stocks slide
Telecom stocks were trading with losses, with the S&P BSE Telecom index decreasing 15.45 points or 1.42% at 1071.65 at 13:48 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Telecom index, Optiemus Infracom Ltd (down 4.95%), Reliance Communications Ltd (down 4.6%), GTL Infrastructure Ltd (down 4.08%), Bharti Airtel Ltd (down 2%), Bharti Infratel Ltd (down 0.59%), and Vindhya Telelinks Ltd (down 0.16%), were the top losers.
On the other hand, ITI Ltd (up 5.02%), Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (up 4.91%), and Sterlite Technologies Ltd (up 3.2%) turned up.
At 13:48 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 418.09 or 1.03% at 40999.8.
The Nifty 50 index was up 108.35 points or 0.91% at 12080.15.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 84.25 points or 0.64% at 13308.23.
The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 30.51 points or 0.65% at 4695.46.
On BSE,1405 shares were trading in green, 894 were trading in red and 170 were unchanged.
