Metal stocks edge higher

Metal stocks were trading in green, with the S&P BSE Metal index increasing 72.95 points or 0.72% at 10172.95 at 09:48 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Metal index, JSW Steel Ltd (up 1.64%), Vedanta Ltd (up 1.42%),Tata Steel Ltd (up 0.81%),Hindalco Industries Ltd (up 0.72%),NMDC Ltd (up 0.68%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (up 0.54%), Hindustan Zinc Ltd (up 0.53%), National Aluminium Company Ltd (up 0.48%), and Steel Authority of India Ltd (up 0.24%).

On the other hand, Coal India Ltd (down 0.27%), turned lower.

At 09:48 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 18.44 or 0.04% at 41663.1.

 

The Nifty 50 index was down 10.35 points or 0.08% at 12261.45.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 15.78 points or 0.12% at 13406.81.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 12.55 points or 0.27% at 4717.25.

On BSE,793 shares were trading in green, 603 were trading in red and 88 were unchanged.
