Telecom shares slide
Telecom stocks were trading with losses, with the S&P BSE Telecom index falling 47.01 points or 4.84% at 924.6 at 13:52 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Telecom index, Bharti Infratel Ltd (down 5.78%), Bharti Airtel Ltd (down 5.08%),Optiemus Infracom Ltd (down 4.72%),ITI Ltd (down 4.15%),Vodafone Idea Ltd (down 1.93%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were HFCL Ltd (down 1.44%), and Tejas Networks Ltd (down 0.94%).
On the other hand, OnMobile Global Ltd (up 4.59%), GTL Infrastructure Ltd (up 4.55%), and Vindhya Telelinks Ltd (up 2.5%) moved up.
At 13:52 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 1271.44 or 4.31% at 28197.05.
The Nifty 50 index was down 350.35 points or 4.07% at 8247.4.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 100.84 points or 1.05% at 9508.08.
The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was down 68.72 points or 2% at 3360.09.
On BSE,997 shares were trading in green, 1049 were trading in red and 149 were unchanged.
