Telecom stocks edge higher

Telecom stocks were trading in green, with the S&P BSE Telecom index increasing 9.69 points or 1.08% at 903.13 at 09:53 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Telecom index, Bharti Airtel Ltd (up 1.47%), Bharti Infratel Ltd (up 0.14%), and Vindhya Telelinks Ltd (up 0.11%), were the top gainers.

On the other hand, Optiemus Infracom Ltd (down 4.93%), Reliance Communications Ltd (down 4.62%), and GTL Infrastructure Ltd (down 4.55%) turned lower.

At 09:53 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 305.24 or 1.14% at 26368.79.

The Nifty 50 index was down 57.8 points or 0.74% at 7743.25.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 114.62 points or 1.29% at 8762.96.

 

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was down 43.65 points or 1.36% at 3177.1.

On BSE,427 shares were trading in green, 801 were trading in red and 66 were unchanged.
