Telecom shares gain

Telecom stocks were trading in the positive zone, with the S&P BSE Telecom index rising 3.96 points or 0.35% at 1146.49 at 09:48 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Telecom index, Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (up 4.96%), Reliance Communications Ltd (up 4.49%), Bharti Airtel Ltd (up 4.21%), GTL Infrastructure Ltd (up 2.38%), Optiemus Infracom Ltd (up 2.16%), and ITI Ltd (up 0.77%), were the top gainers.

On the other hand, Vodafone Idea Ltd (down 29.35%), Bharti Infratel Ltd (down 8.87%), and Tejas Networks Ltd (down 2.46%) moved lower.

At 09:48 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 18.9 or 0.05% at 41913.66.

 

The Nifty 50 index was down 4.65 points or 0.04% at 12350.85.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 28.89 points or 0.2% at 14676.43.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 3.14 points or 0.06% at 5018.27.

On BSE,890 shares were trading in green, 573 were trading in red and 78 were unchanged.
