Utilties stocks edge higher

Utilties stocks were trading in green, with the S&P BSE Utilities index increasing 21.36 points or 1.2% at 1794.89 at 09:47 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Utilities index, Reliance Power Ltd (up 4.99%), NTPC Ltd (up 3.43%),GVK Power & Infrastructure Ltd (up 2.68%),Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (up 2.38%),Tata Power Company Ltd (up 1.64%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Adani Transmission Ltd (up 1.25%), NLC India Ltd (up 1.03%), Jaiprakash Power Ventures Ltd (up 0.97%), PTC India Ltd (up 0.9%), and GE T&D India Ltd (up 0.56%).

On the other hand, Reliance Infrastructure Ltd (down 4.91%), Indraprastha Gas Ltd (down 3.63%), and Mahanagar Gas Ltd (down 1.75%) turned lower.

 

At 09:47 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 102.97 or 0.25% at 40472.2.

The Nifty 50 index was down 24.05 points or 0.2% at 11944.35.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 10.48 points or 0.08% at 13346.64.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was down 13.06 points or 0.28% at 4652.15.

On BSE,732 shares were trading in green, 721 were trading in red and 84 were unchanged.
