Power stocks edge higher
Power stocks were trading in green, with the S&P BSE Power index increasing 22.66 points or 1.2% at 1907.52 at 09:50 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Power index, Adani Power Ltd (up 2.71%), Kalpataru Power Transmission Ltd (up 2.54%),NTPC Ltd (up 1.74%),Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (up 1.37%),Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (up 1.25%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were GMR Infrastructure Ltd (up 1.01%), ABB India Ltd (up 0.95%), Tata Power Company Ltd (up 0.9%), Torrent Power Ltd (up 0.83%), and JSW Energy Ltd (up 0.75%).
On the other hand, NHPC Ltd (down 0.41%), turned lower.
At 09:50 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 154.16 or 0.42% at 36798.58.
The Nifty 50 index was up 42.1 points or 0.39% at 10890.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 45.69 points or 0.37% at 12541.54.
The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 12.2 points or 0.29% at 4218.88.
On BSE,925 shares were trading in green, 429 were trading in red and 64 were unchanged.
