Energy shares gain

Energy stocks were trading in the positive zone, with the S&P BSE Energy index rising 62.35 points or 1.19% at 5296.78 at 09:47 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Energy index, Reliance Industries Ltd (up 1.81%), Gujarat Gas Ltd (up 1.34%),Goa Carbon Ltd (up 1.22%),Aegis Logistics Ltd (up 0.95%),Selan Explorations Technology Ltd (up 0.82%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Oil & Natural Gas Corpn Ltd (up 0.76%), Chennai Petroleum Corporation Ltd (up 0.55%), Coal India Ltd (up 0.51%), Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (up 0.31%), and Hindustan Oil Exploration Company Ltd (up 0.16%).

On the other hand, Aban Offshore Ltd (down 2.31%), Petronet LNG Ltd (down 1.5%), and Castrol India Ltd (down 1.22%) moved lower.

 

At 09:47 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 102.97 or 0.25% at 40472.2.

The Nifty 50 index was down 24.05 points or 0.2% at 11944.35.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 10.48 points or 0.08% at 13346.64.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was down 13.06 points or 0.28% at 4652.15.

On BSE,732 shares were trading in green, 721 were trading in red and 84 were unchanged.
