Volatility in Chinese markets has sapped risk appetite globally, sending equities worldwide down the most in more than four years, even as oil hit a 12-year low on Monday
Chinese stocks opened mixed on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.11 per cent, at 3,051.62 points.
The smaller Shenzhen Component Index opened 0.02 per cent higher at 10,743.41 points, Xinhua news agency reported.
The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, was down 0.05 per cent to open at 2,207.43 points.
