The Bharatiya Janata Party's Delhi unit leaders Monday met Delhi's newly-appointed Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung, and apprised him of the failures of Congress-led city government in various fields.
Led by Delhi BJP president Vijay Goel, the party submitted a memorandum to Jung "concerning the complete collapse of governance of the city."
"Goel expressed deep concern over the way the poor and the residents of JJ clusters had been treated over the last 15 years of Congress rule," a party communique said.
The party will be organising a "massive" rally August 4 on this issue, Goel said.
Addressing a press conference after meeting Jung, the Delhi BJP president said: "The lieutenant governor agreed with our proposition that an immediate relaxation in cut-off or some other preference formula can be implemented in colleges of the Delhi government in Delhi University."

"We have urged him to push this issue with the Delhi government, which has failed to perform its task of providing affordable higher education to all students passing out of Delhi schools," Goel said.
"Another important issue we took up was the state of urban poor in the city, especially in the JJ clusters. None of the schemes meant for them has delivered any benefit on the ground, and we have demanded a high-level probe into these schemes, where money meant for the poor is siphoned off," Goel charged.
"From Rajiv Ratan Awas Yojana to the PDS (Public Distribution Scheme), the resources allocated for the poor are being robbed under the patronage of the Congress government. The result is visible on the ground, with drastic deterioration in living conditions of the poor."
Goel said the biggest evidence of the siphoning off of money was in the condition of the poor, whose plight had worsened in the last 15 years.
