At least five people, including a security man, were injured in explosions outside two polling stations in Bangladesh's capital Dhaka Sunday.

Handmade bombs were hurled outside the voting centres at Kadamtali's Anirban Pre-Cadet School and Sirajuddin Primary School of Chakbazaar area, bdnews24.com reported.

Four people were injured when three bombs were lobbed in front of the school in Kadamtali, the report cited a police officer as saying.

The injured were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

A few handmade bombs also exploded outside Chakbazaar's Sirajuddin Primary School, injuring a woman.

Opposition activists trying to enforce a boycott of Sunday's parliamentary elections in 147 constituencies have unleashed a campaign of violence, burning down dozens of polling stations, attacking polling parties and public transport to cause panic.

Polling was suspended at 136 centres due to attacks by anti-poll protestors, the Daily Star reported.

Earlier Sunday, an election official and four opposition supporters were killed in different districts in poll violence.
