Rain continues in Delhi, moderate rainfall on Monday

A day after heavy downpour literally brought the national capital to a standstill, the city received 7.1 mm rainfall between morning and evening on Sunday disrupting general life once again.

The Met office forecast moderate rainfall on Monday.

The persistent rainfall caused water-logging at various places and disrupted traffic in various areas including Munirka, Moolchand and Subhash Nagar.

The city received 7.1 mm of rainfall till 5.30 p.m. on Sunday, the India Meteorological Department said, adding that since Saturday morning the national capital received 68.6 mm of rainfall till 8.30 a.m. on Sunday.

"The sky will remain cloudy on Monday with intermittent rain/ thundershowers occurring at a few places and moderate to rather heavy rainfall to occur at isolated places," a weather department official said.

 

Monday's maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 30 degrees Celsius and 24 degrees Celsius, respectively.

Sunday's maximum temperature was recorded nine notches below the season's average at 26.6 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature settled four notches below the season's average at 23 degrees Celsius.

Saturday's maximum temperature was recorded at 27.9 degrees Celsius, seven notches below the season's average, while the minimum settled four notches below the season's average at 23 degrees Celsius.
