Two Jadavpur University students were arrested Saturday in connection to the alleged molestation of a woman student of the varsity last month, police said.
"Nikhil Das, a student of third year civil engineering and Sonu Kumar, of second year, mechanical engineering stream, were arrested Saturday at Lalbazar police headquarters at 6 p.m.," Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) P. K. Ghosh told IANS.
Students have been demonstrating to demand removal of Vice Chancellor Abhijit Chakrabarty since Sep 17 when university authorities allegedly ordered a police crackdown to break up a peaceful sit-in for an independent investigation into the alleged molestation of a woman student inside a hostel last month.
