CPI(M)'s state divide

Business Standard New Delhi

You may blame it on the difference between the CPI(M)'s Kerala and West Bengal "lines". West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee and his Kerala counterpart, V S Achuthanandan, were present at the prime minister's meeting with chief ministers on prices of essential commodities. Both submitted their written texts but with a difference-while Bhattacharjee's speech was under the head, "Meeting of the prime minister with CMs on price rise of essential commodities", the cover page of VS' text said, "National Food security meeting".

Even as the government kept food security as a separate issue, the first half of the Kerala chief minister's speech talked at length about the proposed Food Security Bill. Bhattacharjee didn't talk much about the Bill at all.
