1 arrested for killing woman

Police have solved the murder of a woman whose naked body was found in sugarcane fields near Barla village here with the arrest of a man.

Brijender, whose farm is adjacent to that of the victim, was yesterday arrested in connection with the case, the police said today.

During questioning, the accused confessed to have killed the woman, they said.

The accused told police that as the woman resisted his attempt to rape her, he shot her dead.

The naked body of the 28-year-old woman with multiple wounds was found in sugarcane fields near Barla village here on June 27.
