13 people killed in Egypt road accident

At least 13 people were killed and five other injured when a vehicle collided with a truck in southern Egypt's Menya governorate.

The accident took place yesterday in the Upper Egyptian city of Malawi, medical sources said.

The victims were transferred to the Malawi hospital, a security source said.

Egypt has one of the world's highest accident rates due to careless driving and poor road and vehicle conditions.

The WHO ranks Egypt as the world's tenth worst country in road accidents, after India, China and the US.
