16 infants die in last 6 days at Kolkata hospital

At least 16 new-borns have died in the last six days at the state-run B C Roy Memorial Hospital here.

"In the last 24 hours three infants have died and if you look at the last six days, the figure is 16," Tridib Banerjee, chairman of the state health department's special task force on child healthcare, told PTI.

He said the babies were brought to the hospital in critical condition at the last minute and therefore the doctors could do little to save them.
