16 workers hospitalised after gas leak at factory

Sixteen workers of a shrimp processing factory in a village near here were hospitalised following ammonia gas leak today, police said.

This is the second such incident in as many days in Nekkinti Sea Foods Factory located in J Timmapuram village, a police officer said, adding that the leak has been brought under control.

The workers were rushed to a hospital here after they complained of respiratory discomfort, he said, adding their condition is stable now.

In a similar incident yesterday, ten workers had taken ill.
