A first year Delhi University student was today killed after he was allegedly hit by a speeding car at Maurice Nagar near the varsity's north campus, police said today.

The car also hit two other people -- a policeman and another student -- leaving them injured, the police said.

The car first hit Delhi Police constable Mukesh, who was on patrolling duty on his motorcycle this morning. It then hit 19-year-old Kapil Ratnu, a first year student at Ramjas college of the DU and Jagriti, a third year political science student, a senior officer said.

The accused car abandoned the vehicle and fled the spot, the officer said.

The three were rushed to nearby hospitals where Ratnu, a native of Jaisalmer in Rajasthan, was declared dead, he said.

Both, Jagriti as well as constable Mukesh were hospitalised where they were stated to be out of danger, said the officer.

The car was registered in the name of Kalyan Puri resident R C Vyas and police have formed teams to identify and nab the absconding driver, he added.
