2 children drown in creek

At least two children today

drowned in a creek while swimming at Kalwa in neighbouring Thane district, police said.

The deceased were identified as Kuldeep Rahodia (9) and Bajindar Sahani (8), a senior police official said.

In the search operation, the fire bridge officials saved their friend Jitu (9), he said.

A group of four children went to Kalwa creek for swimming, he said, adding three of them ventured into the water.

Their bodies were fished out and sent for post-mortem, the officer said, adding during the rescue, a fire brigade personnel got injured and was sent to a hospital.
