A two-year old female leopard was found dead in a tea estate in Toovanmoolai near Pandalur, about 80 Kms from here today.
"The carcass of the leopard was noticed by some estate workers and they immediately informed forest department officials, who rushed to the spot and retrieved it," Veterinarian Dr Prabhu said.
He said he did a post-mortem and sent the viscera to Chennai to ascertain the exact cause of the death.
The carcass was later burnt at the same spot, he said.
