In a case of moral policing, five persons suspected to be Bajrang Dal activists have been arrested for allegedly attacking a youth from Udupi for speaking to a girl from another community here, police said.

The incident occurred on April 3, when the 21-year-old man from Udupi visited a mall here with a girl from another community.

The activists who entered the mall allegedly asked the girl to leave and then thrashed the youth.

The girl had reported the incident to the police after she could not contact her friend over phone.

Police said they arrested the accused yesterday and further investigations were on.
