58-year-old man sentenced to 10 years RI for raping minor

A 58-year-old man was today sentenced to rigorous imprisonment for 10 years for threatening and raping a teenaged girl four years ago at Kotagiri, near here.

According to the police, Lourde, a daily wage labourer, had threatened the 14-year-old girl, a school mate of his grand-daughter, and took her to his house and raped her on October 23, 2010.

Sentencing him, Mahila Court judge M Sarvamangala also imposed a fine of Rs 2000 on him, besides ordering him to pay Rs one lakh as compensation to the victim.
