7 killed in road mishap in Jharkhand

Seven persons were killed and as many injured in a road accident when the vehicle in which they were travelling hit a tree near Harsan Mod, 18 km from Palamau district headquarters, police said today.

The incident took place last night when the driver lost control over the vehicle and rammed it into a tree, SP Indrajeet Mahatha said.

The victims were going to Lesligunj from Manjholi village in Rohtas district of Bihar to attend a wedding.

Four persons were killed on the spot while 10 others suffered injuries. Out of those, three were critically injured, Mahatha said, adding the injured were taken to Sadar Hospital in Medininagar.
 

One of the critically injured and two others died this morning, he said.

The rest two critically injured were rushed to Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences, Ranchi, the SP said.

All the victims were residents of Manjholi village of Rohtas district and were coming to Lesligunj to take part in a marriage ceremony.

The vehicle was badly damaged and a gas cutter was used to to get the victims out of the vehicle.
