75-year old ends life suspecting second wife's fidelity

Suspecting the fidelity of his second wife, a 75-year old man today allegedly attacked her with a knife and mistaking her to be dead ended his own life, police said.

Kandhan of Theyvur used to have frequent quarrel with his 42-year old second wife, whom he had married after the death of his first wife, suspecting her fidelity.

Last night he had seen her talking to a neighbour and questioned about it this morning, which led to a quarrel. Suddenly, he hacked her with a knife in the neck and hand.

As the woman swooned down in a pool of blood, he thought she has died and out of fear committed suicide by hanging himself, police said adding the woman had been hospitalised.
