Aizawl DC finishes Lunglei dist court rampage incident probe

Aizawl District Deputy Commissioner Kannan Gopinathan has completed his inquiry into the court rampage in which an unruly mob attacked the court buildings and residential quarters in south Mizoram's Lunglei district on September 22, Principal Secretary for Home Renu Sharma today said.

In a meeting held at the Circuit House in Lunglei town, Sharma said the Inquiry Officer would soon submit his report on the incident.

A magisterial inquiry was instituted by the state government to enquire into the attack on the court by local people of Zohnuai in Lunglei which resulted in the Gauhati High Court withdrawing all judicial officers including the District and Sessions Judge to Aizawl.
 

Gauhati High Court Chief Justice Ajit Singh is scheduled to visit Lunglei on October 5 to take stock of the situation in the district.
