Akhilesh orders clampdown on illegal mining

An official release, quoting Yadav, said that the chief minister has asked the District Magistrates to enforce a ban on all illegal mining activities.

Warning that no laxity would be tolerated in this regard, Yadav said the government was suffering heavy revenue losses due to mining mafia and that roads too were getting damaged because of trucks overloaded with coal.

"Without check on illegal mining it was not possible to control prices of building material," he said in the release.
