A sessions court here today rejected the anticipatory bail plea of the uncle of a businesswoman, arrested for smuggling jewellery worth Rs 2.45 crore in her undergarments.

According to Department Revenue Intelligence (DRI) officials, businesswoman Vihari Seth's uncle Jiten used to sell jewellery smuggled by her.

The agency had raided his shops and seize unaccounted stock of jewellery, they said.

However, DRI officials said Jiten doesn't face arrest immediately.

Vihari was detained at Mumbai airport on July 30 after she was found crossing the green channel without declaring jewellery worth Rs 2.45 crore concealed in her undergarments.

The court had rejected Vihari's bail application last week.
