The "30 Rock" star said that he wanted to kill Basinger's lawyer "with a baseball bat". He also said he wanted Harvey Levin, the producer of the showbiz website TMZ to die an extremely violent death.
On April 11, 2007, the actor left an angry voicemail message in response to an unanswered arranged call with his daughter in which he called her a "rude, thoughtless little pig" and TMZ released the tape.
In a recent magazine interview Baldwin said he'd like to "gut" Levin for having released the tape. "I wanted to stick a knife in him and gut him and kill him, and I wanted him to die breathing his last breath looking into my eyes."
Baldwin, 54, has had repeated run-ins with photographers in the run-up to his wedding at the weekend to Yoga teacher Hilaria Thomas.
The build-up of attention on him perhaps once again has caused him to seek more privacy as he has quit micro-blogging site Twitter with the words: "It's been fun".
Baldwin left the micro-blogging community last December having been kicked off a flight by stewards for refusing to turn his phone off.
