Bangladesh Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed today appealed to India to improve connectivity between the two neighbouring countries so that trade can flourish.
"There are many tariff and non-tariff barriers to trade with India.......The biggest question is that of connectivity. If we can make a BICM (Bangladesh, India, China, Myanmar) corridor, then it would be easy to connect our market with India," Ahmed said after inaugurating Mega Trade Fair here.
He said Bangladesh imports goods worth 6 billion USD from China which is the largest importer for them. India, with 5 billion USD, comes second.
The minister also took up the issue of the lack of access given to Bangladeshi TV channels in India.
"Your channels are easily seen in Bangladesh but it is very difficult for our channels to find a place here. The cost is very high," Ahmed said while urging Indian investors to do business with Bangladesh.
