Bill to conserve Chalukya's heritage passed by Karna Assembly

Karnataka assembly today passed a bill aimed at conservation of Chalukya dynasty's heritage area of Badami, Ihole and Pattadakallu, with all its archaeological remains and naturalenvironment.

Tabling the Chalukyas Heritage Area Management Authority Bill, 2017, Kannada and CultureMinister Umashree said its intention was to prevent uncontrolled developmentand commercial exploitation of the heritage area.

It envisaged executing works as contemplated in the development plan and to coordinate activities of the local authorities, and encourage research regarding the archaeological and historical aspects of Chalukyas heritage, she said.

The Chalukya dynasty ruled large parts of southern and central India between the 6th and the 12th centuries.
