It was another hot and humid day day in north India today with the sun blazing throughout the day and the mercury settling above normal levels in many areas.
In the national capital, Delhiites experienced another sultry day with the maximum temperature settling at 38.6 degrees Celsius, a notch above the normal.
According to MeT department officials, the minimum temperature was recorded two notches below the season's average at 21 degrees Celsius.
Humidity in air oscillated between 69 and 15 per cent.
Maximum temperatures across Punjab and Haryana too continued to hover around normal levels. Chandigarh, the common capital of the two states, recorded a maximum of 36 degrees Celsius.
Ambala recorded a maximum temperature of 37.2 degrees Celsius while Hisar and Narula's respective maximums settled at 38.7 and 37.5 degrees Celsius, respectively.
In Punjab, Amritsar recorded a high of 37.6 degrees Celsius while maximum temperatures in Ludhiana and Patiala settled at 36.5 and 37.7 degrees Celsius, respectively.
In Rajasthan, many areas in the western region of the state sweltered under temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius.
In Jaisalmer, Barmer, Jodhpur, Bikaner and Churu, the maximum temperature settled above 40 degrees Celsius, according to MeT officials.
Though there was some respite from the heatwave that blew over the region last week, sultry conditions prevailed in the area.
