CBI raids offices, residences of two SECL officials in Korba

A Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) team raided the offices and residences of two South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) officials in here today, in connection with a corruption case.

The raids were conducted at offices and residences of Korba Region SECL Regional Manager (Personnel) Anil Kumar and present Kushmunda Region Senior Mining Engineer Umesh Gupta, said a CBI official stationed in Bhilai.

A complaint was received against the duo that they had allegedly extended benefits to a Delhi-based private security agency called Dhruv Guards Pvt Ltd which provided its services to SECL's Dhelwadih project between 2010-12, by making an additional payment of Rs 39 lakh, the CBI official said.
 

As per the complaint, Kumar and Gupta had allegedly approved forged invoices submitted by Dhruv Guards Pvt Ltd to receive payments.

These officials had allegedly overlooked rules and cleared bills without any verification, he said.

Some important documents were recovered during the raids giving leads for further investigation, the CBI official said, but refused to reveal any details.
