Amid chanting of Vedic hymns, the wooden chariot procession of the presiding deity was today taken out around the hill shrine of Lord Venkateswara near here, on the penultimate day of the Navaratri Brahmotsavam festivities.
The idols of Lord Venkateswara and his divine consorts-- Sri Lakshmi and Sri Padmavathi, adorned with several ornaments, were mounted on the chariot, which was pulled by devotees with the help of twin ropes attached to it.
TTD Chairman, Chadalawada Krishanamurthy said about 1.5 lakh devotees offered worship to the idols as it was taken around in the chariot.
The festivities began on October 3.
