A conglomeration of leaders of 14 major churches in the state here today sought intervention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the issue of alleged attacks on the Christian community and requested him to ensure that such attacks on them do not occur in future.

Members of Mizoram Kohhran Hruaitute Committee (MKHC) submitted a memorandum to BJP chief Amit Shah, who was here to address a party rally, in the name of the Prime Minister in this regard.

"We pointed out several incidents of attacks on Christian community and the churches," MKHC leader Rev R Lalrinsanga said.

In the memorandum, we have urged the Prime Minister to intervene (in the matter) and ensure that such attacks on Christians "do not recur", Lalrinsanga told PTI.
