CoBRA jawan injured in encounter

A CoBRA jawan was today injured during a gun battle between the security forces and Maoists in Kumandih jungle of Latehar district, police said.

"Preetam Kumar of CoBRA battalion suffered a bullet wound in his leg. He has been taken to a hospital in Ranchi (about 100 km from here)," Superintendent of Police Michael S Raj told reporters here.

The security forces launched the anti-Maoist operation from Wednesday and the Maoists exploded landmines and opened fire around 10 am today, resulting in the ensuing encounter, he said.
