A team of students from a city-based college are among the 12 teams chosen for the finals of Mahindra's Driverless Car Challenge.

Team Pragyaan from PSG College of Technology here has been selected for the finals, among the initial 259 applicants, a college release said.

The car challenge is part of Mahindra's "Spark the Rise" programme aimed at taking technological innovations in transportation industry to a whole new level.

It comprises various stages, including development and implementation of an automatic car, which can be operated on the country's roads without a driver. The teams involved have to come up with the necessary technological solutions to realise the agenda on the Mahindra E2O automatic electric vehicle.
