Congress today condemned the ceasefire violation by Pakistan troops who resorted to mortar shelling in Akhnoor sector of Jammu district leaving a woman dead and four injured.
"We strongly condemn the Pakistani firing that resulted in loss of lives and injuries to civilians and security personnel," state Congress leader Sham lal Sharma said.
He said that unprovoked firing by the Pakistani troops days after the prime ministers of the two countries decided to resume peace talks showed that the Pakistani government was "not at all sincere" towards stabilising bilateral ties.
"The recent action exposes their double standard," he said.
He also demanded that adequate compensation and medical treatment be given to injured person.
