Congress will organise year-long celebrations in different parts of Jammu and Kashmir to mark veteran Congress leader Girdhari Lal Dogra's 100th birth anniversary year.
"The main function will be held at party headquarters on the birth anniversary of Dogra on July 17 followed by year-long celebrations in different areas, including his ancestral village, as part of 100th year of his birth anniversary," Senior Vice-President, JKPCC, Sham Lal Sharma told reporters here today.
Dogra has been a Minister, MP and MLA several times and held several posts as a veteran Congress leader in the state.

Sharma said that the party has reviewed the preparations for the birth anniversary of Dogra.
Dogra's contributions and his firm faith in the ideology of Congress party and its principles of secularism, socialism and democracy must be highlighted among the younger generations of the state and the Congress cadres, by holding programmes in the 100th year of his birth anniversary, he said.
Sharma also said that people are facing great hardships on account of scheduled and unscheduled power cuts of long duration besides delay in replacement of damaged and burnt transformers in this scorching heat.
He asked the state government to take immediate necessary measures in this regard.
